There are always some factors going around and things are specified according to the age group. We all think that a bad breathing problem is just an adult problem, but, many of us are not aware of the fact that it could happen in toddlers too. Halitosis, which is commonly a term used to signify bad breathing is a problem that is not only the problem that occurred in adults.

Well, it is not a big deal, however, it is something that could be embarrassing. So there is a need to look at the solutions that prohibit its spreading. It is quite challenging for parents to teach their kids how to prevent bad breath. Bad breath is not something permanent, depending on the cause, it is important to go for the solutions and let your kids learn it themselves. Some pretty easy ways to help your kids get rid of bad breathing.

Build a Habit of Brushing

When kids are growing they eat more chocolates and candies which is harmful to their teeth, however, kids are suggested to brush twice a day by the dentists. So, teach your child to brush the teeth two times, in the morning and before going to bed. Make sure they are cleaning their tongue too. Usually, parents are advised to brush their kid’s teeth until they turn eight years old.

Let the Children Choose their Tooth Brush

When kids have the freedom to choose something of their choice, they are more likely to take interest in it. So, when you are starting to build the habit of brushing in your kid, get them to the shop and let them choose their brush and toothpaste. When they buy something of their choice they will get excited to try it out.

Change Toothbrush

If you want your toddler to breathe well, try to change their toothbrush after every two to three months. When you replace the toothbrush it prevents the bacteria to build up and causes bad breath.

Create a Mouth Wash at Home

You can easily create a mouth wash at home. In one cup of water add a drop of peppermint essential oil and mix one tablespoon of baking soda. Stir them well until it properly mixed. But keep in mind you kid do not swallow it.

Clean the Teeth

It is important to check if there are some odor-causing food particles in the mouth of your kid. Floss your toddler’s mouth every day and remove those particles.

Check if it is Due to Sleeping Habits

If you notice that the bad breathing problem is due to sleeping habits, you can easily help your kid with it. Well, if there is no cure for the mouth breathing issue, you can include a humidifier in the room to add more moisture. The moisture in the air help combats dry mouth which prevents bad breathing. Moreover, help them try out different sleeping positions, till they are not exposed to nighttime accidents. Put a cup of water near to them, so they could take a sip of water if they wake up.

Routinely Dental Checkups

Another way to cure bad breath is to make sure your kid is going to regular dental visits. Going to the dentist means they would have complete cleaning of their teeth which improves and maintains the oral hygiene habits at home. The dentist may give proper instructions about how to improve oral hygiene and better identify the problems before they get out of control. Regular dental checkups are recommended as soon as your kid reached the 12th month age.
