An ear infection is a common problem in kids, before the kid turns 3, 5 out of 6 children may have this infection, according to the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders.

An ear infection is a painful inflammation that occurs in the middle of the ear, most of the time it occurs in between the eardrum and eustachian tube, which connects with the nose, throat, and ear. The major causes of an ear infection could be cold and bacteria or viruses. When the ear infection starts it causes inflammation and swelling of the eustachian tube. Children have more narrowed eustachian tubes as compared to adults, that’s why it could easily have been blocked. The effects of ear infections are short-term however it could cause severe issues in very rare cases.
